Habitat for Humanity is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. We work with people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build homes together in partnership with families in need. Using volunteer labour and financial contributions from caring people, we build with partners and communities to provide simple, decent, and affordable housing for low-income families.

Habitat has built, renovated and repaired almost 300,000 homes in dozens of countries and territories including many in the Asia-Pacific region. Today, an estimated 1,500,000 people, many of them in our region, live in homes they have built with Habitat.

Ending poverty housing worldwide, one house at a time
 
In China, the need for decent housing is staggering as most of the impoverished people lack decent shelter. Since breaking ground of our first house in 2001, Habitat China has built hundreds of houses for the low-income rural families.
Transforming lives by creating safe, secure homes
Habitat presents a unique opportunity not only to give money but also your time and personal effort to help build a home side by side with the families you are helping and show them that you really care. Get involved!
Habitat for Humanity is not a hand-out program but a “hand-up” program. Volunteers and home partner families are directly involved in building Habitat homes. To pay for new homes, Habitat provides micro loans to selected families at no-profit and no-interest terms. Home partner families are selected based on their level of need and their ability and willingness to repay the loans and provide “sweat equity”, helping to build their own homes and those of their neighbors. When partner families repay their loans, the money goes towards building another Habitat home. This Revolving Fund for Humanity is the cornerstone of Habitat’s success and would not be possible without the generous contributions of people like you.
